To tell of way back when
To even write of nothing
Fills my own special need
To touch someone with my words
To make them smile or cry
To help them find their own words
Makes my writing worthwhile
To send thoughts that encourage
To remind them of love
To race toward memories
After reading my rhyme
To reach their inner feelings
To make the thought shine through
To find a note that I did
Oh! This is why I write
